Black Americans have long created their own cultural blueprint for how gardens and nature can be used as a means of remembrance, inspiration, and creativity. In this conversation, horticulturist, historian, and author Abra Lee will lead a journey back in time to discuss historic legacies and give insight into some extraordinary Black Americans and the plants they used to bring joy into their lives.

This lecture will take place during the Garden’s extended Thursday evening hours (5–8 p.m.; last entry at 7:30 p.m.). Reservations are not required, and entry is included with general admission to the Garden.
