A Private Journey
to Madagascar and Mauritius

October 12–24, 2025

You are invited to travel with the Garden and experience an unforgettable botanical adventure in Madagascar. We have planned an outstanding trip to experience some of the world’s most unique flora and fauna—with a look at the conservation efforts at work to sustain them.

The trip is scheduled for October 12–24, 2025, and will be hosted by Dr. Gunter Fischer, the Garden’s Senior Vice President of Science and Conservation.

Highlights of this trip include:

  • An excursion to Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, to meet with Garden staff from the island nation and tour the botanical garden.
  • A two-night stay at the Mantadia Lodge with stunning views of rainforest flora and fauna, including lemurs and tropical birds.
  • A visit to Île aux Aigrettes, a tiny islet off Mauritius with the last remnant of a unique ebony forest.
  • A day in the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, founded in 1770 and regarded as the oldest tropical botanic garden in the world.
