While many collect and care for orchids because of their beautiful and exotic flowers, their intricate biology is sure to inspire another level of awe! From the way orchids have evolved to look and smell like insects in order to deceive them into being pollinated to how they rely on a symbiotic relationship with fungi to grow and reproduce—orchids are truly remarkable. For this installment of the Member Speaker Series, Garden scientist Nisa Karimi will introduce us to orchids’ incredible biology and share orchid research and conservation efforts currently underway by Garden staff across the globe.
