(ST. LOUIS): Immerse yourself in a tropical oasis brimming with vibrant blooming orchids at the 2019 Orchid Show, open February 2 to March 24.
The show is a once-a-year opportunity to view a rotating display of hundreds of orchids from the Garden's expansive living collection. The Orthwein Floral Display Hall will be transformed into a tropical landscape set amidst classic garden ornaments with a slightly modern flare. Peer through lush foliage, bubbling fountains, and trailing vines as you are transported to an exotic hideaway.
The 2019 Orchid Show will focus on the cultivation of orchids for the home gardener. Visitors can watch informative videos and learn tips on caring for orchids at home. The cultivation aspect will focus specifically on the care and handling of four orchid genera, Paphiopedilum, Phalaenopsis, Cattleya, and Cymbidium.
The Garden will hold Orchid Nights on Thursdays from February 14 and to March 7. Experience the Orchid Show in a whole new light! Come visit the show in the evening and step into the landscape of beautiful blooming orchids while you take in live music and sample libations from local breweries, wineries, and distilleries. Cash bar and small bites are also available for purchase.
The first Orchid Night, on February 14, will have a Valentine’s Day theme. The first 200 women at the event will receive a Valentine flower from the Garden, and all visitors can enjoy romantic music and Valentine activities throughout the evening.
Orchid Nights tickets are $15 for Garden members and $20 for nonmembers.
Orchid Show admission is $5 per person (ages 3 and older), in addition to general Garden admission ($12 for adults; $6 for St. Louis City and County residents, with free admission Wednesdays and Saturdays until noon; free for children ages 12 and younger). Missouri Botanical Garden members enjoy free general admission along with free Orchid Show admission.
The Missouri Botanical Garden is located at 4344 Shaw Blvd. in south St. Louis, accessible from Interstate 44 at the Vandeventer exit and from Interstate 64 at the Kingshighway North and South exit. Free parking is available on site and two blocks west at the corner of Shaw and Vandeventer.
