As the Missouri Botanical Garden prepares for the transition to the eighth president in the Garden’s 165-year history, the time is ideal to honor the legacy of our current president, Dr. Peter Wyse Jackson.

Members, volunteers, and visitors are invited to join us on Sunday, September 29, for a special day of activities that celebrate Dr. Wyse Jackson’s Irish heritage and showcase the amazing accomplishments of the Garden during his 14 years of leadership. Join us for family-friendly fun—including tours, live music, science activities, free treats, and more!

ALL-DAY ACTIVITIES

Science and Conservation Showcase: Enjoy demonstrations, hands-on activities, and an opportunity to meet scientists behind research and conservation efforts during Dr. Peter Wyse Jackson’s time at the Garden in the Farr Auditorium.

Scavenger Hunts: Explore the Garden by taking one of our self-guided scavenger hunts featuring recent plant discoveries, Dr. Wyse Jackson’s favorite Garden spaces, and more! Pick up a guide at the Visitor Engagement Station.

Family Fun: Visit Brookings Exploration Center and the Doris I. Schnuck Children’s Garden for hands-on activities for the whole family. Create a nature observation journal, try your hand at plant pressing, and make a seed packet to take home.

Shopping and Dining Specials: Visit Sassafras Restaurant for an Irish-themed dish of the day. In the Garden Gate Shop, enjoy savings on Missouri Botanical Garden Press publications, including Ireland’s Generous Nature written by Dr. Wyse Jackson himself.

Shoenberg Arid House: Explore the Shoenberg Arid House, which just opened to the public. See plants from the Garden’s collection on public display for the first time in decades in the Garden’s newest conservatory.
