Morpho Mardi Gras: Bugs, Rhythm, & Blues

Escape the cold weather with a visit to the Butterfly House's "Morpho Mardi Gras: Bugs, Rhythm, & Blues"! This family-friendly carnival will have you immersed in “the blues” as the Butterfly House floods the Tropical Conservatory with a sea of 1500 blue morpho butterflies. Learn how themes in blues music can be similar to behaviors of butterflies! As you stroll through the tranquility of the tropics, see how many of our “Bugs on Parade” you can find or make a masquerade mask, with our youngest visitors. Help inaugurate the season with these majestic creatures.

Spring Fling
Spring Fling is a celebration of budding trees, sprouting flowers, and the arrival of pollinators to our gardens! Join us in March, April, and May at the Butterfly House as we host a variety of activities that will cure your case of Spring Fever!

Rainforest Revel

Revel in a night out at the Butterfly House with live jazz and local brews! Take in the sights and sounds of the rainforest while experiencing the beauty of our tropical Conservatory at night. Sample foods that are native to tropical rainforests. Learn about the international journey for some amazing animals, discover sustainable butterfly farming practices, and gain a deeper understanding of your role in rainforest conservation. Advance registration required. Ages 21+.

Pollinator Plant Sale
Apr 26 - 27, 2025 | 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Enjoy a wide selection of native plants that benefit butterflies, bees, and other native pollinators. All plant sales proceeds benefit Project Pollinator, our community gardening initiative.
Butterfly House admission is not required to shop at the Plant Sale.

Dads, Dogs, & Donuts

Bring the whole family to the Butterfly House as we celebrate dads, grandpas, and uncles! Enjoy delicious donuts, activities, and meet Martha Blah Blah, the talking dog! Join us for story time and hear about Martha's silly adventures before taking fun photos together.

Fireflies & Friends Festival

Celebrate the bugs of summer at the "Fireflies & Friends Festival"! Great for all ages, the evening will be filled with live music, fun activities, and hands-on exploration as you learn about dragonflies, cicadas, fireflies, and more! See roosting butterflies in the Butterfly House's Tropical Conservatory or stroll amongst nature's "living lanterns" with our entomologist team. Children will enjoy glow games and crafts while adults 21 and older have the option of purchasing a drink-tasting band, allowing them to sample local brews. Snacks will be available for purchase.

Tacos, Tequila, and Tarantulas

For ages 21 and older. Come celebrate tacos, tequila, and tarantulas at the Butterfly House! Enjoy animal encounters, music, and appetizers. Are you brave enough to get up close to our tarantulas or try one of our Bug Chef's cricket street tacos? Don't worry, liquid courage will be provided!

Bookworm Brunch

Join us for Bookworm Brunch at the Butterfly House! Enjoy a delicious brunch, fun crafts, storytime, and photos with our special guests, Frog and Toad. We will be hosting this event indoors in the the main Exhibit Hall again this year.

BOOterfly House

This October, slink on over as the Butterfly House becomes the BOOterfly House! Come face to face with fantastic insect friends and learn how animals, like scorpions and tarantulas, are not so creepy after all. Check out carnivorous plants in our Tropical Conservatory, and spy on spectacular butterflies like the awesome Owl Butterfly. It's sure to be the best treat of your fall.

Wicked Wings and Wine
Oct 17, 2025 | 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
This night is for adults ages 21 and up. Join us for this happy hour and celebrate the spirit of Halloween at the Butterfly House. As twilight approaches, sample local brews, wines, and spirits while you learn about our owl butterflies, which are mostly active at dusk. Grab a bite, then take a stroll through our torch-lit Native Butterfly Garden as you enjoy live music.

Enchanted Fairy Gardens

Escape the cold as the Butterfly House magically transforms this winter! Enjoy the Tropical Conservatory filled with elaborate fairy gardens, home to the guardians of our jewel-toned butterflies. Discover the world of many colors that can be found in nature.

Supper with Santa
Dec 12 - 14, 2025 | Dec 19 - 21, 2025 | 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Before making his big trip around the world, Santa is stopping by the Butterfly House! Enjoy a delicious Pasta House dinner and take night strolls through our Tropical Conservatory. Children will have the chance to make fun crafts, then visit with Mrs. Claus for cookies and cocoa. The evening would not be complete without getting a souvenir picture with the guest of honor – Santa!
